River Plate and Argentina U15 international forward Felipe Esquivel is being closely watched by the Azulgrana in Barcelona.

Barcelona have sent scouts to the South American Under-15 Championship tournament. With the Catalan giants reportedly interested in Argentina forward Felipe Esquivel. Following the arrival of Ecuadorian striker Juan Riquelme Angulo, Diario Sport reports on Wednesday. UFABET

Eskil is a 15-year-old product of River Plate’s youth system. Despite his small stature at just 1.63m tall. He is a technically gifted left-footed player who can play on both flanks and excels in one-on-one duels.

Eskivel currently has a contract with River Plate until 2026 and has a €30 million release clause. So if any club wants to sign him, they will have to wait until 2027, when he turns 18.

Barcelona previously missed out on Claudio Echeverri, who agreed a deal to join Manchester City. While another target, Franco Mastantuono, was also on Real Madrid’s radar, with Catalan media claiming the Blaugrana could be considering Echeverri more seriously than the others.

It goes to show then extent of the scouting networks that have developed in recent years. Barcelona can be assured that many other top clubs also noticed Esquivel, and while previously many of these players would have been scouted and kept on file by big clubs, now they are much more likely to move for them sooner, before they develop into senior professionals.
